Cellex C Betaplex Gentle Foaming Cleanser: An Evaluation

The Cellex C Betaplex Gentle Foaming Cleanser is one of the products under the Betaplex lineup of the company. It is a facial wash that contains the Patented Complex of the manufacturer, a formula primarily based on vitamin C. The product is supposedly formulated to remove dirt and accumulated dead skin cells that can clog the pores and cause acne and other skin problems.
The cleanser is said to be effective in making the skin look healthier, younger and smoother. As stated in the manufacturer's Web site, the facial wash is recommended to people with normal, oily and combination skin. This cleanser contains alpha and beta hydroxy acids.
"I have been using this cleanser for approximately 3 months...It has tamed my breakouts and leaves my skin feeling soft yet well-cleansed...It is pricey, but since you only need to use very little of it to wash your face, it lasts a long time."
Excerpt from a customer review on amazon.com
"After reading the reviews I thought I had found the cleansing product I've dreamed of having. I'm still dreaming."
Excerpt from a customer review on amazon.com
"I have combination skin...still needing something that can remove impurities and makeup. This does a good job. I also love the packaging where I can see the clear liquid and the pump never clogs!"
Excerpt from a user review on totalbeauty.com
"Recommended to me by a skin specialist. Expensive and hard to find, but worth it."
Excerpt from a customer comment on skincarestore.com.au
Most of the feedback we've found on this product are positive. Although there are some complaints regarding its efficacy, they are very few. One user complained about the price and availability of the product, but we have found more expensive cleansers that have received very poor ratings from users, so we think that this Cellex C cleanser is priced just about right. Numerous online shops are also offering it, so there shouldn't be any problem purchasing one.
We do recommend this product. Based on user comments, it has a high efficacy rating and is actually priced just right. A bit above the medium price range, but still reasonable. The product also smells good and the packaging is very pleasing

The Cellex C Betaplex cleanser is manufactured by Cellex-C International Inc. of Denver, Colorado
Water, Aloe barbadensis gel, Sodium laureth sulphate, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Lactic acid, Lauramide dea, Willow bark extract, Bisabolol, Cucumber extract, Clover extract, Methylparben, DMDM hydantoin, Propylparaben, FD&C yellow No. 5, FD&C Blue No. 1
Pour some on the palm of your hands and work into a lather. Apply to wet face, massaging for about ten seconds. Rinse with clean water.

Acne Cures: Is there a Natural Acne Cure that Works?

Are there natural acne cures that work or is it a new age myth? Is there a permanent cure for acne or are all acne sufferers sentenced to the Sisyphean battle of tackling the 'on the surface' symptoms? Is there an honest, natural and safer alternative to the endless use of over the counters and to the nasty side effects inflicted by conventional drugs, creams and topical acne treatments?
Most dermatologists and other western medicine followers have already answered that controversial question by claiming that acne, among other diseases simply cannot be cured.
There are 2 reasons for that:
1. Most dermatologists don't even know what the real cause of acne is. It's amazing but true. They are highly familiar with the symptoms of acne and they specialize in tackling the 'on the surface' symptoms, but unfortunately they cannot tell you what the internal conditions are that cause your acne to form in the first place. If you don't believe me just ask your dermatologist.
2. Most doctors work in conjunction with the pharmaceutical and drug companies and the latter is not motivated, so to speak, at discovering a cure for Acne or Aids or Cancer - simply because hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on finding treatments for the symptoms of diseases. Why? simply because their global aim is to make more profit by creating consumer dependency. By applying medications and creams that deal merely with the symptoms while ignoring the source or the internal cause of the disease, acne will never be cured. The average acne sufferer will become more and more reliant on drugs that temporarily calm the symptoms and that means steady income for the drug and pharmaceutical companies.
There's a lovely metaphor describing acne among other chronic diseases and the way modern medicine deals with these afflictions: If you manage to kill all the mosquitoes around a stale pond using chemicals, for a little while there will be no mosquitoes.
But since the source of the problem (what causes the mosquitoes to appear) is still there - the stale, disgusting pond where mosquitoes can find food and fertile ground for laying their eggs - mosquitoes will always come back!
The same thing happens with your acne!
Without eliminating the source of your acne condition, you will never get rid of your acne. Without fixing the internal problem that is causing your acne, you may find temporary relief, but your acne will always come back until you do something fundamental to eradicate the cause from within...until you make the pond (your body or internal system) a place where 'mosquitoes' cannot exist.
Ultimately, every disease results from a breakdown within your body. All major diseases and chronic conditions are warning signs of something very fundamentally wrong inside. Deepak Chopra refers to this as "The violation of simple laws of nature that make our body function."
The very surprising truth is that you are lucky for having acne. Let me explain...Acne, like constant headaches, irritable bowel syndrome or dandruffs is only a small message from your body that something is wrong internally and should be addressed and corrected.
Now, there are two choices you can make - you can:
1.Ignore that message - bog mistake! The internal imbalance that caused your acne will, in most cases, turn into a chronic condition. Now instead of just having acne you'll start having other hormonal imbalance or toxic overload related symptoms in addition to acne. Because the internal problem is not fixed, the disease symptoms get more and more intense.
2.Listen to your body and start fixing the internal problem that causes your acne to appear in the first place; you will not only get rid of your acne you will also achieve beautiful, healthy, even toned clear skin complexion, re-balance your body and prevent future hormonal or toxic overload related conditions.
The simple truth is...you are out of balance. We now live a 'far-from-natural' lifestyle. There are over 300 synthetic industrial chemicals present in our bodies that did not exist 50 years ago. We are filled with toxins from the food, and medication we ingest and use.
By fixing the internal condition that causes your acne in addition to adopting a healthy lifestyle (healthy diet & mindset, cleanse & detoxify, hormonal balancing etc.) you will put your body back into balance - holistically - your acne will cease to exist and you feel as healthy and attractive as ever!
It doesn't matter what type of acne you have. Whether you suffer from: acne vulgaris, acne Conglobata, acne Rosacea, Acne Fulminans, Blackheads, Whiteheads, Papules, Pustules, Nodules or Cysts: The principles required to cure your acne are basically the same. The "holistic" ways of treating people have been around for thousands of years, and they absolutely work whether you have teen or adult acne; whether you suffer from acne on your back, shoulders or chest or if you suffer from female related acne such as menopause acne or acne due to monthly cycles.
Whatever your acne condition is, when you finally decide to stop making the same acne treatment mistakes that have been holding you back and begin applying the holistic approach to curing acne, you can literally choose to become clear and stay clear. You will have the power to make it happen.

What the heck causes acne? Warning: Research-y stuff

Thanks to modern medical science, we know that for some reason, acne follicles tend to overproduce cells, which in turn stick together and cause a clogged pore and ensuing zit. But why does this happen? Scientists have performed very few studies in an attempt to figure this out.
I just got through reading what was only the second study to ever attempt to scientifically understand what happens inside acne follicles vs. control follicles. Researchers from the University of Leeds in England performed the study back in 1994. Unfortunately, I think this control follicles were poorly selected. The researchers took biopsies of acne follicles from the upper back of patients who were an average age of 22. The control follicles were taken from the chest of people who were an average age of 41 during open heart surgery. In my opinion, the vast difference in age and location of biopsy between the acne follicles and control follicles largely discounts this study. Regardless, the researchers did make a couple of interesting points when discussing what might cause acne-prone skin to overproduce cells.
1) When sebum production increases, as it often does in acne-prone individuals, the sebum, as it leaves the follicle, takes with it too many of the cells lining the follicle wall. The follicle then reacts by overproducing cells to counteract this loss.
2) Linoleate (a.k.a. linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid) deficiency in sebum: Researchers have discovered that sebum in acne-prone skin contains less linoleate than normal. One hypothesis is that when sebum increases, linoleate content is diluted, and this decrease in linoleate signals overproduction of cells.
But in reality if you asked these researchers to tell you what cases acne, I think if they’d honestly reply, “well heck, who knows…”
The more you read about the potential cause of skin cell overproduction and clogged pore formation, the more complex it becomes. We have the hormone system to look at, sebum overproduction, the skin’s inflammatory response, systemic vitamin and mineral deficiency, bacteria over-proliferation, or a combination thereof…the possibilites are endless and the list goes on and on.
So, if and when science does finally figure it out, will we uncover a silver bullet? Or is the cause of acne a combination of factors? I’ll keep reading and let you know what I find. Please do the same if you can and let me know what you find out.

Acne Rosacea Cause - Learn The Truth About The Cause Of Acne Rosacea

Acne rosacea is one of the most common dermatological conditions that affects millions of people worldwide. What causes acne rosacea? The truth may surprise you. This article will reveal the truth about the cause of acne rosacea.
Acne does not discriminate. Acne occurs in people worldwide, no matter their race, age or gender. That being said, there are still many questions being asked about the cause for acne rosacea. Extensive research has revealed numerous causes of acne rosacea.Hormones are a common cause of acne rosacea. Research has established that one of the causes of acne rosacea is the activation of the hormones androgens.
During teenage years androgens are activated. This results in the production of oil in the skin. When this occurs a person's skin starts to become clogged with oil and dirt and unfortunately pimples and blackheads break out as a result.Other than this cause for acne rosacea another common cause is the menstrual cycle in women.
Another factor is when a woman actually starts to take a birth control pill and also when she stops taking one. The good news is that nowadays there are actually some birth control pills that are highly recommended for treating acne.
There are three acne scar classifications. These classifications include rolling, boxcar and ice pick. As the name suggest, ice pick acne scars are sharp and very thin. The skin actually takes on the unattractive appearance of looking like it has been sliced with a knife. Ice pick acne scars are very deep scars and extent into the deeper layers of the skin.
The next classification of acne scars is boxcar acne scars. These differ from ice pick scars as they are round pits. This type of acne scar has been shown to get good results from laser resurfacing and dermabrasion procedures.
The final classification of acne scars are rolling acne scars. These type of acne scars are usually as a result of folds in the skin and can usually be treated by breaking up the bands that create the skin fold in the first place. These acne scars are frequently treated by an incision in the skin

There are a number of interesting causes of acne rosacea, one of these being stress. The fact of the matter is that any stress on a person can result potentially in inflammation of the skin. Stress not only may trigger acne rosacea but it can be a very important factor for any skin conditions developing in the first place.
Additionally, some acne studies have come to the conclusion that another reason why acne rosacea comes to the surface is as a result of a food allergy which triggers an acne outbreak. Another cause of acne rosacea is genetic and hereditary factors. Many dermatologist and researches have determined that if your family members have had acne during their life then it is highly likely that all members of the family are prone to acne outbreaks.
If acne outbreaks are hereditary there is little you can do to prevent an outbreak, however, there is quite a lot that can be done to control acne.Additionally, there are a number of environmental causes of acne rosacea including high humidity. Research has established that high humid conditions can cause the skin to swell and lead to acne outbreaks.
Furthermore, the beauty industry may be to blame for the cause of some acne rosacea occurring in individuals. Certain beauty products like foundations, cleansers and moisturizers contain ingredients that could trigger acne in some people. If in doubt you beauty products for sensitive skin.
There are a number of forms of major acne treatments that have been tested and proven to actually work in getting rid of acne. One of the most recommended acne treatments is using antibiotics to directly kill the bacteria breeding in the skin. One of these antibiotics is tetracyclines. Another form of antibiotic is benzoyl peroxide which is mainly applied directly to acne. Of course these acne treatments will not probably work straight away and acne sufferers will usually need to continue these antibiotics for an extended period of time.
An amusing search online for potential causes of acne rosacea include masturbation. I can wholeheartedly state that no research study I have located has been able to find any link with acne rosacea and masturbation. A quick tip for not making your acne worse is to never rub, squeeze or pick any pimples as inevitably that could cause a severe outbreak of acne.

Cystic Acne

Cystic acne differs from regular acne in that the inflamed modules do not break through the skin’s surface. Instead these pus-filled pockets form beneath the skin. They create large pockets of inflammation or cysts deep within the underlying layers of skin. Cystic acne often results when two blemishes come together to form one large area of pus and swelling.
Dermatologists and doctors recommend a variety of treatment products for cystic acne but what they don’t tell you about is how these products impact your body over time.
Accutane is one of many dangerous drugs prescribed by doctors for severe acne cases such as cystic acne. Quite often these drugs relieve the symptom temporarily and are therefore regarded by many as ineffective and not worth the risk.
There is so much information on the net about different types of acne, ranging from mild to severe, identifying which type of acne you have is really pointless when you have so many other thigns you should be doing first to get rid of acne. Understanding the fundamental difference between acne symptoms and causes is a good place to start. Following that you need to take the necessary measures to clear your acne from the inside out using safe and natural methods.

Treatments for Acne Scars

One of the most difficult to treat types of acne is cystic acne. Most traditional therapies are not capable to treat this type of acne but homeopathic cures can be quite efficient and they do not cost as much as other products on the market. Home remedies are another option. One of the most successful cures for acne is cucumber. Lemon peel is also very efficient in improving your skin and keeping bacteria away. The natural ingredients in both cucumber and lemon peel can help with unclogging the pores. Clogged pores are the main source of acne.

Aloe Vera is another example of a good treatment for acne. It not only helps treat acne but also other skin diseases. Aloe Vera can retain normal skin colour and get rid of redness. Lettuce leaves can also be used to wash your face and reduce acne formation. Strawberry, raspberry or blackberry leaves also help in getting rid of pimples in the skin. Leaves have to be soaked in hot water for ten to fifteen minutes and then the solution can be used as facial wash.

One other substance that is helpful in treating mild and moderate types of acne is benzoyl peroxide. There are also treatments such as photo therapy, chemical peels or skin polishing. Laser treatments are used in extreme cases in order to get rid of marks left by acne. Laser technology is often used in combination with other traditional topical therapy or oral medications such as antibiotics. Up to 70% reduction of acne can be achieved with just three laser treatments.

Fair skinned persons are more exposed to rosacea. Laser treatment is the best option for people who have symptoms of flushing or repeated redness of the face when they are exposed to sun or spicy foods. Laser treatment targets the blood vessels, by heating them and allowing the body to absorb them more easily.

Adult Acne - How To Deal With It

We are all rather familiar with acne, we either had it, know someone who had it or are currently suffering with it. Acne affects nearly 40 million people in the United States alone. It can start anytime between the ages of 12 and 25 and when it hits, well it hits with a vengeance. A growing number of adult women in their twenties and thirties are getting adult acne, even if they never suffered with acne before. The problem with acne is that there is no known cure.
Yes we are bombarded all over the place to buy this "miracle cure" and try this "amazing product" and so often a person who is afflicted with this skin problem will hope and pray that this will be the answer that they are looking for. Just this one time this is going to be the one thing that actually does work. Then because it proves not to be the "miracle cure" they were promised they end up frustrated and disappointed.
So how does one deal with acne? More particularly how does one deal with adult acne? Well, to just give up and resign oneself to the supposed inevitable is not the answer either. You see adult acne is much like being over weight in that you don't feel good about yourself; your self esteem takes a major knock and you are convinced that when people look at you they do not see YOU but are rather focused on just the area that is riddled with acne. You hate going out in public, you do not want people to look at you because you hate looking at yourself. I know this because I have been there.
Adult acne is embarrassing. It is one thing if you were a teenager because society seems to be more accepting; it is what almost the "norm" is for teenagers. People sympathize and "tut tut" it away as just a natural process of life. I'm not taking away for one moment what teenagers go through (they have "strange" hormones to deal with on top of it all) but there seems to be a stigma attached to adult acne. People just look at you differently.
There seems to be this misconception that if you suffer from adult acne you don't wash your face and you must be dirty. Just like in the case of someone who is overweight people don't sit back and think that it may most likely be due to hormonal changes and/ or sometimes it may just be hereditary. It seems to be in people's nature to assume the worse.
Acne doesn't just lead to physical scars (which are really depressing and more damaging to the psyche) but more concerning it leads to emotional scarring. Well your choices in dealing with adult acne can be put into two categories. You can "roll over and just accept" that this is your lot in life or you can become active, take charge and find ways to help the situation. Acne may not be curable but it can be controlled and eventually you may even grow out of it.
Let's take a quick look at what acne is and once we understand how it comes about we can look at how to deal with it. Acne is generally characterized by black heads, white heads, red bumps (also known as blind pimples) and in some cases scarring. Acne is the result of overactive oil glands at the base of the hair follicles that become blocked or inflamed. It may appear anywhere on the body but it tends to be primarily on the face.
There are different forms of acne; mild inflammatory acne, moderate to severe inflammatory acne and severe acne. The problem with acne treatments is that what works for one person may not work for the next. Due to how severe your acne may be you will need to find out which is the best course of action for you. This is best done seeking the advice of your health practitioner or a dermatologist. However you can do a few things to help yourself.
As tempting as it may be DO NOT SQUEEZE OR PICK AT YOUR FACE. It may be tempting and you may just want to get rid all the spots and you think that by squeezing them all out you will be rid of it once and for all. Well if only it was that simple. It is not. The pus (and thus the germs) spreads across your face causing you more acne, or you just end up pushing the pus deeper into your skin causing more of an infection. In some cases you are left with scars. Scaring brings on a whole different level of anxiety and depression.
Do not spend too much time in the sun. There seems to be this myth that the sun will "cure" your acne. The hope seems to be that it will dry up the oily glands. But how will it when the follicles are blocked? You see the sun damages your follicular walls causing further blockage and in turn more acne. The sunlight also produces free radicals in the skin which diminishes the skins ability to heal.
There has been no scientific evidence that has proven that acne and diet are related. I have read various reports saying that acne and diet are related and some say that there is no relation whatsoever. So not affirmed either way but cut down on some foods and see if it makes a difference at all. Maybe you have an allergy that aggravates the situation.
Start with the highly refined sugars and things like seafood, mushrooms and salt. Deep fried food is generally not good for your over all health and some say that it is really bad for your skin. Drink more water, water flushes your body of toxins and so in turn is a great internal way of aiming for that healthier looking skin.
Stay away from coffee. It does not matter if it has caffeine in it or not. Coffee stimulates the production of cortisol. Cortisol is a hormonal steroid that the body produces when it is under stress. (Stress does not cause acne but it certainly aggravates it) Cortisol helps our bodies maintain homeostasis during time of stress yet it causes problems when it stays is our body for a long period of time because what cortisol does is it destroys tissue, which then releases small protein molecules from the destroyed cells. These remainders of cell-protein partly end up in the skin which ends up contributing to acne. Watch out for foods packed with hormones. It does not help hormonal acne.
Interesting fact, non Westernized people did not suffer from acne until their diet changed to what we eat and then oops they joined our ranks in the acne department. The problem is that so much of our diet tends to rob us of vitamins and minerals that are essential for good healthy skin. Vitamin A has been known to be a great preventative of acne. Give it a try, eat less "junk" and more fresh fruit and vegetables high in antioxidants, there is no harm in it and maybe it will help.

Remember acne is not caused by dirt and so DO Not scrub your face. It generally makes the acne worse. You aggravate the glands that produce the oil and they then produce more oil and then spread the bacterium that causes your acne around the face making it worse. Don't use a face cloth because germs tend to stick to them and then you are just smearing them all over your face. Your hands are the best thing to use and they are a lot gentler on your skin too.

Smoking does not cause acne but it does make the skin look unhealthy and so much older, this is because the nicotine reduces the blood circulation to your skin. Some case studies have shown that smoking can irritate the acne, making it worse.
Avoid things that rub against your skin, like collars, don't wear too much make up and when you do choose products that are oil free or are made specifically bearing acne in mind. These products would be "non-comedogenic" or "non-acnegenic." Wash your hair as often as you need to and keep it off your face.
Bear in mind the following when receiving advice about your acne:

Most over-the-counter acne treatments are topical and the most popular ones contain Benzoyl Peroxide. The problem is that once you stop the treatment the acne just flares up again and some people say that as the skin becomes used to it so the effectiveness of it lessens. Benzoyl Peroxide is also known to cause excessive dryness, and for some people itchiness which then further irritates the skin. It is also a bleach so be careful when using it that it does not ruin your clothes.
Antibiotics tend to aim at inhibiting bacteria. The problem is bacteria are not the cause of acne. The irony is that bacteria are essential in keeping the skin flexible and inhibiting it just speeds up the aging process. Then of course it needs to be remembered that antibiotics are also well known for reducing a person's immune system.
I am not going to give you a whole list of unpronounceable names of various chemicals found in anti-acne treatments but I am going to give you a run down of what some of the side effects are. After all that is what matters most.
o Liver disease (sometimes resulting in a needed transplant)
o Jaundice and life threatening psuedomembranous colitis.
o Autoimmune disease, acute inflammation of the lung and a blue black disclouring of your skin, mucous membranes, nails, adult teeth and Internal organs.
o Benign intracranial hypertension. Early warning signs are headaches, nausea, vomiting and visual disturbances. Decreased night vision, inflammatory bowel disease, an increase in the size of your bones, raised cholesterol levels.
o Heart risks
o Further skin problems. As if acne is not enough you suffer too from dry skin, skin fragility, itching, nosebleeds, inflammation and cracking of lips. Eczema like rash, thinning of hair, peelings of palms and soles of feet, skin infections, gastrointestinal problems, urogenital problems and tiredness.
Then to top the list off you also have things like seizures, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, depression (as if the acne hadn't caused enough now the "cure" adds to it too) gum inflammation, arthritis and so we can go on but I think you have got the point.
I am not trying to scare you off finding what can help your acne, just informing you of what some of these products may do to you. Don't loose hope, acne can be controlled and in many cases people do find what aggravates or causes it through trial and error. Don't give up and you will eventually find the solution that works best for you.

Is AcnEase the Best Natural Treatment for Cystic Acne?

Treatment for cystic acne is usually stronger than common acne cures. This poses the problem of potential adverse reactions and other side effects that consumers can do without. With this in mind, the makers of AcnEase had marketed this product as a safe, all-natural solution for cystic acne. According to them, the product is based on principles of traditional Chinese medicine and modern science.

The manufacturer of AcnEase promotes the product as having the ability to improve symptoms associated with cystic acne and other forms of the condition. They also claim that it contains herbal extracts and is a safe cure that will not interfere with oral contraceptives that some cystic acne solutions are known for.
"...I'm a month into it and it has worked brilliantly since about week two. I've found the key is consistency and discipline - take it every day and try to stick to the same time every day."

Excerpt from a customer review on amazon.com
"I honestly couldn't tell you if this product worked or not...after about a month of using AcnEase, I couldn't tell a difference, so I suppose not."

Excerpt from a customer review on nutritionaltree.com
"This product is expensive and effective. It removed all my zits and stopped most new ones from appearing, but it costs $30 per bottle."

Excerpt from a customer review on nutritionaltree.com
"...So I took them. Weeks passed without change. The tablets were reaching the end of my batch, so I thought, hey, maybe when I'm still experiencing some kind of initial breakout. The time ebbed away, as did my supply, and too my hope."

Excerpt from a customer review on acne.org
According to comments we've gathered, it works well on half of the user population but is totally useless for the other half. Simply put, it's a product that is not for everyone. Cystic acne is more difficult to cure than mild or moderate acne. It usually requires strong medications; and with strong medications, side-effects are usually expected. AcnEase, being made from herbal extracts, has less danger of producing side-effects. However, its efficacy is also questionable. In addition, it is deemed expensive by most consumers.

This product might not have received the highest ratings when it comes to efficacy, but we think that before trying the stronger stuff, maybe you should try this one first since it is "relatively safer" than stronger cystic acne solutions. That is, if you don't mind risking your dollars. At least, there is a possibility that you will be included among the lucky ones who have found their cystic acne cure in this product.

AcnEase is manufactured by Herborium Group Inc., a provider of alternative and complimentary health care solutions headquartered in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Acne Scar Treatments

Acne scar removal without resorting to acne laser treatment
Finding the answer to the question of which acne scar treatment is best without resorting to laser acne treatment takes time and plenty of research. Many factors are involved – factors such as how badly the person’s skin has been scarred, how deep the acne scars are and the skin type of the affected person. Oftentimes, the best acne scar removal method is a combination of different treatments, including the prevention of future outbreaks.
There is absolutely no point in treating acne scars, unless you’re going to stop more acne from developing in the first place. Doing that would be similar to a cat chasing its tail and running around in circles!
Dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, collagen injections, laser peels, punch techniques and augmentation are the most common acne laser treatment procedures. However, most people prefer not to resort to these methods as they seem un-natural and are expensive.
The medical industry has come up with a number of ways to remove acne scars, apart form being very expensive there’s been too many horror stories of what these chemicals actually do to your face.
Natural acne scar treatments including herbs and oils are available and can be just as effective, if not more. It’s important to do your research and select an acne scar treatment that’s appropriate for your type of scar damage.
It’s obvious that these methods of removing scars come with a risk involved and that’s the reason a lot of people like to try acne scar home remedies to fade acne scars.
Below are a few natural acne remedies that are great for acne scar treatments.

Cucumber and tomato juice are highly rich in anti oxidants. Anti oxidants clear up highly reactive free radicals which can cause damage to the body’s cells including the skin cells. Apply it to acne affected areas and within a month your acne scars will begin to fade out. You can also apply lemon juice directly on your scars and get the same effect.

Crush garlic cloves into fine pieces and leave it on your skin for about 10 minutes before washing it off. The properties of garlic are antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and antioxidant agent. Never leave on over night since it is so strong it may burn your skin!

You can also apply a paste mixed with sandalwood powder and a little rosewater or make a paste out of oatmeal and apply that to your face. Sandalwood can kill germs, soothe inflamed skin, and clear blemishes due to it’s antimicrobial properties.Honey is a great and inexpensive moisturiser it can also treat acne scars. Raw honey has natural antibiotic and cleansing agents that kill bacteria without harming the skin. It also has exfoliating properties.Warm it up and massage into your face. You can also apply egg white to your acne scars. the film of the egg whites tighten your skin and will help narrow pores. Whilst there is no real long term benefit the temporary benefits can go a long way so it’s definitely worth giving it a go.
Acne prevention methods are better than finding a single acne cure. By maintaining an acne diet and treating the acne scars using a natural acne scar treatment could well be your ticket to healthy skin.

One of the acne skin care tips frequently made is to gently wash the skin on a daily basis with a very mild cleanser. It is best to do this once when you wake up and once before going to bed.
This acne skin care tip is for people who desperately try to stop the outbreak of acne by using harsh soaps and scrubbing pads to stop their acne occurring. Stop! You may think this is helping but if you want to learn an effective acne skin care tip, this will actually worsen your acne breakouts.

How Potent Is the Cellex C High Potency Serum?

The Cellex C High Potency Serum is an anti-aging formula designed to give the skin a firm, youthful look. This serum is part of Cellex-C's product group with Patented Complex formula. According to the company, the Complex formula is based on concentrated levels of ascorbic acid or vitamin C, an ingredient necessary to maintain skin's elasticity and firmness.
The Serum is recommended by the manufacturer to all skin types. It is said to be effective in firming the skin and maintaining its elasticity. The product is marketed as a formula that prevents skin sagging and minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other skin spots caused by aging.
"...But after using it for 2 months (faithfully) I saw absolutely no change in my wrinkles or firmness of skin. However, I must admit it made my skin soft, making foundation very easy to apply...Considering the price and the nonexistent change in my wrinkles I was very disappointed with this product."
Excerpt from a customer rating on skinstore.com
"It only takes a few drops of the serum each day to work, so a small bottle lasts a long time. It's the only product I've ever used where within a week friends and co-workers were actually telling me how good I looked and how much younger I looked."
Excerpt from a customer review on dermstore.com
"After using for two weeks, I have noticed a big difference in my skin quality. My pores are tighter, my wrinkles less prominent...All in all, I think I look a few years younger and healthier."
Excerpt from a consumer review on epinions.com
"This serum is like liquid gold and performs miracles. My skin never looked better."
Excerpt from a customer review on skincarerx.com
Most of the reviews we've gathered gave this product a thumbs up. There are some complaints regarding its color that allegedly sticks to clothing and hands and its lack of effects, but these are quite few. Some did claim that the product failed to produce promised results, but mostly, buyers were satisfied with this serum. It is quite expensive, but has a lower price than the Cellex C Advanced C Serum. The ingredients are also different from the Advanced Serum formula. Between the two Cellex serums, the Advanced Serum seems to have a bit of an advantage.
We recommend it, although you might be better off with the Advanced Serum. However, this one is a bit cheaper than the other Cellex serum. We warn you though, that you need to consult with a skin expert first before you purchase a product as potent as serums, be it Advanced or High Potency.

The Cellex C High Potency Serum is manufactured by Cellex-C International Inc. of Denver, Colorado
Zinc sulfate, Water, Ascorbic acid, Acetyl Tyrosine, Sodium hyaluronate, Bioflavonoids
Apply four to five drops on face once everyday

Cystic Acne Home Treatment That Works - Discover A Cheap Cystic Acne Home Treatment That Works

An effective and affordable cystic acne treatment that works is what adults and teenagers all over the world are desperate to find. There are a variety of acne treatments available at various prices and affordability ranges. This article will discuss the range of cystic acne treatments available that claim to work.
Studies have claimed that alarmingly more than 90 percent of teenagers suffer from acne breakouts. As a result of this it is sometimes difficult for teenagers to find an affordable acne treatment that really works. In general, most people who suffer from acne respond to specific acne treatments. Unfortunately, acne medications may be needed to be used for years, let alone months.
Thankfully in this day and age there are a huge range of acne treatments now sold worldwide that claim to work to both prevent and get rid of acne. Some of these acne treatments have been clinically proven to work and be effective. Unfortunately, other acne treatments have not been proven to work as well as their claims make out.
Among the range of acne treatments available nowadays there are also certain combinations of acne treatments that are found to be very effective in preventing the onset of acne breakouts occurring.
There are a number of forms of major acne treatments that have been tested and proven to actually work in getting rid of acne. One of the most recommended acne treatmetns is using antibiotics to directly kill the bacteria breeding in the skin. One of these antiobiotics is tetracyclines. Another form of antiobitic is benzoyl peroxide which is mainly applied directly to acne. Of course these acne treatments will not probably work straight away and acne sufferers will usually need to continue these antiobitics for an extended period of time.
Another method of acne treatment that claims to work is the derivatives of Vitamin A. Clinical research has revealed that taking Vitamin A derivatives on a daily basis, such as isotretinoin, over an extended period can also help reduce acne breakouts. This kind of acne treatment reduces the skin's secretion of oils from the sebaceous glands. It is for this reason that this kind of acne treatment works for acute acne conditions.
It has been found that Vitamin A directive acne treatments have a much longer effect than simply using an antibacterial acne treatment. However, just as with antiobiotic treatments and other medications, these kind of cystic acne treatments also come with unpleasant side effects.
If you are looking for a cystic acne home treatment that works without side effects to help get rid of acne then I strongly recommend that you check out the website below.

Skin Types and Acne Treatments

Harsh beauty treatments have grown in popularity in recent years and more and more teens are looking for medications against severe acne. However, some of these products are associated with harmful side effects. For example, Isotretinoin used in Accutance fights acne by decreasing the amount of oil produced naturally by the skin glands. Although decreasing the secretion of oil can lead to less inflammation or scarring of the skin, side effects include dry skin or even nosebleeds.
In order to be able to look after your skin properly, you have to first determine which skin type you have. This can help you not only know what products to use, but also what to avoid. The five basic skin types are normal, oily, dry, sensitive and combination. The type of skin you have is genetically determined. But what you eat and how you take care of your health is important for both the health and the beauty of your skin later in life.
Cleansing is important for all the skin types as it can keep pores tight. Mositurizers are also important to retain surface moisture and balance the moisture content in the skin. The inner glow of skin relies on nutrients such as Vitamin A, B and E. Eating leafy vegetables and drinking enough water can help your skin retain inner glow.
Oily skin is the type which is most prone to acne. The oil balance in this type of skin can be influenced by various reasons such as stress, hormonal imbalance and genetics. Oily skin often gets dehydrated because of the constant efforts to remove excess oil.

Frequently Asked Questions About Acne

Frequently Asked Questions About Acne
Acne is a very common disease. People who have it tend to have similar kinds of questions about it and its treatment. This section addresses some of the common questions asked by people with acne. Please remember that your dermatologist is always the best source of specific information about your individual health issues, including acne.
Questions and Answer does follows:
1. What causes acne?
The causes of acne are linked to the changes that take place as young people mature from childhood to adolescence (puberty). The hormones that cause physical maturation also cause the sebaceous (oil) glands of the skin to produce more sebum (oil). The hormones with the greatest effect on sebaceous glands are androgens (male hormones), which are present in females as well as males, but in higher amounts in males.
Sebaceous glands are found together with a hair shaft in a unit called a sebaceous follicle. During puberty, the cells of the skin that line the follicle begin to shed more rapidly. In people who develop acne, cells shed and stick together more so than in people who do not develop acne. When cells mix with the increased amount of sebum being produced, they can plug the opening of the follicle. Meanwhile, the sebaceous glands continue to produce sebum, and the follicle swells up with sebum.
In addition, a normal skin bacteria called P. acnes, begins to multiply rapidly in the clogged hair follicle. In the process, these bacteria produce irritating substances that can cause inflammation. Sometimes, the wall of the follicle bursts, spreading inflammation to the surrounding skin. This is the process by which acne lesions, from blackheads to pimples to nodules, are formed.
2. I wash my face several times a day. Why do I still get acne?
Many people still believe that acne is caused by dirty skin. The truth is, washing alone will not clear up or prevent acne. Washing does, however, help remove excess surface oils and dead skin cells. Many people use all kinds of products, including alcohol-based cleansers, and scrub vigorously, only to irritate the skin further and worsen their acne. Washing the skin twice a day gently with water and a mild soap is usually all that is required. However, acne is actually caused by a variety of biologic factors that are beyond the control of washing. For that reason, you should use appropriate acne treatments for the acne.
3. Does stress cause acne?
Stress is commonly blamed for the development of acne. Stress can have many physiologic effects on the body, including changes in hormones that may theoretically lead to acne. In some cases the stress may actually be caused by the acne lesions, not the other way around! If the acne is being treated effectively, stress is not likely to have much impact on the majority of people.
4. I never had acne as a teenager. Why am I now getting acne as an adult?
Usually, acne begins at puberty and is gone by the early 20s. In some cases, acne may persist into adulthood. Such types of acne include severe forms that affect the body as well as the face (which afflict males more than females) and acne associated with the menstrual cycle in women. In other cases, acne may not present itself until adulthood. Such acne is more likely to affect females than males.
There are several reasons for this. As females get older, the pattern of changes in hormones may itself change, disposing sebaceous glands to develop acne. Ovarian cysts and pregnancy may also cause hormonal changes that lead to acne. Some women get acne when they discontinue birth control pills that have been keeping acne at bay. Sometimes young women may wear cosmetics that are comedogenic-that is, they can set up conditions that cause comedones to form.
5. What role does diet play in acne?
Acne is not caused by food. Following a strict diet will not, clear your skin. While some people feel that their acne is aggravated by certain foods, particularly chocolate, colas, peanuts, shellfish and some fatty foods, there is no scientific evidence that suggests food causes or influences acne. Avoid any foods which seem to worsen your acne and, for your overall health, eat a balanced diet-but diet shouldn't really matter if the acne is being appropriately treated.
6. Does the sun help acne?
Many patients feel that sunlight improves their acne lesions and go to great lengths to find sources of ultraviolet light. There is no proven effect of sunlight on acne. In addition, ultraviolet light in sunlight increases the risk of skin cancer and early aging of the skin. It is, therefore, not a recommended technique of acne management, especially since there are many other proven forms of treatment for acne. Moreover, many acne treatments increase the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet light, making the risk of ultraviolet light exposure all the worse.
7. What is the best way to treat acne?
Everyone's acne must be treated individually. If you have not gotten good results from the acne products you have tried, consider seeing a dermatologist. Your dermatologist will decide which treatments are best for you. For more information about the types of acne treatments that are available, and for basic acne treatment guidelines, please see Acne Treatments in the main part of AcneNet.
8. What kind of cosmetics and cleansers can an acne patient use?
Look for "noncomedogenic" cosmetics and toiletries. These products have been formulated so that they will not cause acne.
Some acne medications cause irritation or pronounced dryness particularly during the early weeks of therapy, and some cosmetics and cleansers can actually worsen this effect. The choice of cosmetics and cleansers should be made with your dermatologist or pharmacist.
Heavy foundation makeup should be avoided. Most acne patients should select powder blushes and eye shadow over cream products because they are less irritating and noncomedogenic. Camouflaging techniques can be used effectively by applying a green undercover cosmetic over red acne lesions to promote color blending.
9. Is it harmful to squeeze my blemishes?
Yes. In general, acne lesions should not be picked or squeezed by the patient. In particular, inflammatory acne lesions should never be squeezed. Squeezing forces infected material deeper into the skin, causing additional inflammation and possible scarring.
1. Can anything be done about scarring caused by acne?
Scarring is best prevented by getting rid of the acne. Dermatologists can use various methods to improve the scarring caused by acne. The treatment must always be individualized for the specific patient. Chemical peels may be used in some patients, while dermabrasion or laser abrasion may benefit others. It is important that the acne be well controlled before any procedure is used to alleviate scarring.
2. How long before I see a visible result from using my acne medication?
The time for improvement depends upon the product being used, but in almost all cases it is more a matter of weeks or months instead of days. Most dermatologists would recommend the use of a medication or combination of medications daily for 4 to 8 weeks before they would change the treatment. It is very important for patients to be aware of this time frame so they do not become discouraged and discontinue their medications. Conversely, if you see no change whatsoever, you might want to check with your dermatologist regarding the need to change treatments.
3. Would using my medication more frequently than prescribed speed up the clearing of my acne?
No-always use your medication exactly as your dermatologist instructed. Using topical medications more often than prescribed may actually induce more irritation of the skin, redness and follicular plugging, which can delay clearing time. If oral medications are taken more frequently than prescribed, they won't work any better, but there is a greater chance of side effects.
4. My topical treatment seems to work on the spots I treat, but I keep getting new acne blemishes. What should I do?
Topical acne medications are made to be used on all acne-prone areas, not just individual lesions. Part of the goal is to treat the skin before lesions can form and to prevent formation, not just to treat existing lesions. Patients are generally advised to treat all of the areas (forehead, cheeks, chin and nose) that tend to break out rather than just individual lesions.
5. My face is clear! Can I stop taking my medication now?
If your dermatologist says you can stop, then stop-but follow your dermatologist's instructions. Many times patients will stop their medication suddenly only to have their acne flare up several weeks later. If you are using multiple products, it may be advisable to discontinue one medication at a time and judge results before discontinuing them all at once. Ask your dermatologist before you stop using any of your medications.
6. Does it matter what time I use my medication?
Check with your dermatologist or pharmacist. If you were taking one dose a day of an antibiotic, you could probably take it in the morning, at midday or in the evening, although you should pick one time of day and stay with it throughout your treatment. With oral medications prescribed twice a day or three times a day, you should try your best to spread out the doses evenly. Some antibiotics should be taken on an empty or nearly empty stomach. For optimal results with topical treatments, you should strictly follow your dermatologist's recommendations. For example, if instructed to apply benzoyl peroxide in the morning and a topical retinoid at bedtime, it is important to follow these directions strictly. If the two were applied together at bedtime, for example, you could decrease the efficacy of the treatment because of chemical reactions that make them less effective.
7. I have trouble remembering to take my oral medication every day. What's a good way to remember? What should I do if I forget a dose?
This is a common problem. Many patients try to associate taking their medication with a routine daily event such as brushing teeth or applying makeup. It also helps to keep the medication close to the area where the reminder activity is carried out.
In most cases, if you miss a day of your oral treatment, do not double up the next day; rather, get back to your daily regimen as soon as possible-but there may be different instructions for different oral medications. Ask your dermatologist or pharmacist about what to do if you miss a dose of your particular medication.
8. I have been using topical benzoyl peroxide and an oral antibiotic for my acne and have noticed blue-black and brown marks developing on my face and some discoloration on my body. The marks are especially noticeable around acne scars and recently healed lesions. Is this a side effect of medication and is it permanent?
It is not possible to make general statements about side effects of medications that apply to individual cases. A dermatologist should be consulted. The facial marks and body discoloration described by the patient in this case do fall within the range of side effects of some antibiotics.
Unique patterns of pigmentation are sometimes seen in acne patients treated with certain oral antibiotics-particularly minocycline. The pigmentation patterns that appear may include:

* Localized blue-black or brown marks in and around acne scars and in areas of previous acne inflammation
* A "muddy skin" appearance that may cover much of the body
* Diffuse brownish pigmentation of the feet and lower legs.
The pigmentation side effect gradually disappears after the therapy is discontinued.
Any side effect of a medication should be noted by the patient and brought to the attention of the physician. While most side effects are temporary they should be discussed with the physician and monitored.
1. My doctor is prescribing a topical retinoid for my acne. He said a retinoid is a substance related to vitamin A. If the drug is related to vitamin A, shouldn't vitamin A dietary supplements be helpful in getting rid of acne?
Dietary vitamin A is essential to good health, especially vision. It has healthful effects in the skin. Large doses of vitamin A for the treatment of acne is not recommended on grounds of safety. The retinoids and retinoid-like substances used as topical treatments for acne are prepared especially for their potent effect on the shedding of cell lining in the sebaceous follicle. Their use should be monitored by a dermatologist.
Dietary vitamin A has multiple health effects in the human body. Vitamin A is essential for good vision. Extreme vitamin A deficiency can result in blindness, usually accompanied by dry, scaly skin. Vitamin A overdose that far exceeds the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of 5,000 IU can have effects nearly as catastrophic. Extreme vitamin A overdose can cause the skin to blister and peel-an effect first seen in early North Pole explorers who nearly died after eating polar bear liver that has an extraordinarily high vitamin A content.
Topical retinoids are usually prescribed as a treatment for moderate to severe acne. Side effects are chiefly dermatologic, including redness, scaling and dryness of the skin, itching and burning. These side effects can usually be managed by adjustment of the amount and timing of retinoid applied to the skin. Dose adjustment must be discussed with the dermatologist who prescribed the treatment.
2. Are there any acne treatments specifically for people with dark skin? Are there any treatments specifically harmful to dark skin?
There are no acne treatments specifically for use on dark skin. Acne treatments are generally as safe and effective on dark skin as on light skin. Some treatments for acne scars may cause temporary lightening of dark skin.
Acne is a common skin disease that has the same causes and follows the same course in all colors of skin.
Very dark or black skin may be less well-moisturized than lighter skin. Topical anti-acne agents such as benzoyl peroxide that have a drying effect on the skin should be used under the supervision of a dermatologist. Benzoyl peroxide also is a strong bleach and therefore must be applied carefully to avoid inadvertent decolorization of a patch of hair, towels or clothing.
Darker skin has a tendency to develop post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (excessive skin darkening at places where the skin was inflamed). Severe inflammatory acne may result in dark spots. The spots resolve over time; a dermatologist may be able to recommend cosmetic measures to make the spots less apparent until they resolve. Some acne treatments, such as topical retinoids and azelaic acid, may also help fade the discoloration.
Removal of acne scars by dermabrasion or chemical peeling may cause temporary lightening or darkening of dark skin in the areas of treatment. Scar treatment should be discussed with a dermatologist or dermatologic surgeon before it is undertaken.
Alterations of melanin (dark pigments that give the skin its color) pigmentation such as vitiligo and melasma are not related to acne, but they may be present simultaneously with acne. The diagnosis and treatment of melanin pigmentation disorders such as vitiligo requires a dermatologist with knowledge and experience in treating these conditions.
3. Is acne that appears for the first time in adulthood different from acne that appears in adolescence?
Acne has a specific definition as a disease of sebaceous follicles. This definition applies to acne that occurs at any age. However, it may be important to look for an underlying cause of acne that occurs for the first time in adulthood.
Current understanding of the causes of acne vulgaris is described in the Main Text section Why and how acne happens. In brief summary, acne vulgaris develops when excessive sebum production and abnormal growth and death of cells in the sebaceous follicle result in plugging of follicles with a mixture of sebum and cellular debris and formation of comedones (blackheads and whiteheads). Bacteria in the follicles-chiefly Propionibacterium acnes, the most common bacterial colonist of sebaceous follicles-may contribute to the inflammation of acne by release of metabolic products that cause inflammatory reaction. The pathogenic events, which cause disease, in the sebaceous follicle are believed to be due in large degree to changes in levels of androgenic (male) hormones in the body-a circumstance usually associated with growth and development between ages 12 and
4. Some acne investigators believe that although this understanding is generally correct, there is more yet to be learned about the causes of acne vulgaris.
Acne that appears after the age of 25-30 years is (1) a recurrence of acne that cleared up after adolescence, (2) a flare-up of acne after a period of relative quiet-for example, during pregnancy, or (3) acne that occurs for the first time in a person who had never previously had acne.
Acne that occurs in adulthood may be difficult to treat if there are multiple recurrences. Some patients with severe recurrent acne have undergone repeated courses of treatment with the potent systemic drug isotretinoin.
Acne flares in association with pregnancy or menstruation are due to changes in hormonal patterns.
Acne that appears for the first time in adulthood should be investigated for any underlying cause. Drugs that can induce acne include anabolic steroids (sometimes used illegally by athletes to "bulk up"), some anti-epileptic drugs, the anti-tuberculosis drugs isoniazid and rifampin, lithium, and iodine-containing drugs. Chlorinated industrial chemicals may induce the occupational skin disorder known as chloracne. Chronic physical pressure on the skin-for example, by a backpack and its straps, or a violin tucked against the angle of the jaw and chin-may induce so-called acne mechanica. Some metabolic conditions may cause changes in hormonal balance that can induce acne.
Some lesions that appear to be acne may be another skin disorder such as folliculitis-infection and inflammation of hair follicles-that require different treatment than acne. Acne that appears for the first time in adulthood should be examined and treated by a dermatologist.
5. My 15-year-old daughter has what I would describe as a very mild case of acne. She has made it much worse by constant picking and squeezing. She looks in the mirror for hours, looking for some blackhead or blemish she can pick or squeeze. Does she need psychological counseling?
Excessive picking and squeezing of otherwise mild acne is a condition called excoriated acne, seen most often in young women. A dermatologist may provide effective counseling.
The typical person with excoriated acne is a person-often a young women-who is so distressed with her appearance due to acne that she literally tries to "squeeze the acne out of existence." The acne is often very mild, but the person's face may constantly be covered with red marks from squeezing, and open sores where lesions have been picked open.
The word excoriate means to scratch or abrade the skin. Excoriated acne is a medically recognized condition that should be discussed with a dermatologist. Occasionally giving in to a temptation to squeeze a blackhead is not defined as excoriated acne. Hours in front of a mirror, squeezing and picking every blemish, is a definition of excoriated acne. A dermatologist may be able to counsel the patient regarding a course of treatment in which the patient can participate, but keep "hands off."
6. Can the rate of secretion or the composition of sebum be altered by diet? If it can, shouldn't alteration of diet be considered a treatment for acne?
Diet has never been proven to have a role in the cause or treatment of acne. Dietary manipulation may have a role in the treatment of some scaling diseases of the skin, but not in the treatment of acne.
Dietary cause is one of the most persistent myths about acne. Foods, such as chocolate or greasy foods, do not cause acne, but certain foods seem to make some people's acne worse. The following can bring on or worsen it:
*Hereditary factors
*An increase in male hormones found in both males and females
*Menstruation
*Emotional stress
*Oil and grease from cosmetics, work environment
No food has been shown to be effective in preventing or treating acne. A healthy diet is, of course, necessary for good general health.
7. Shouldn't I just try to eliminate sebum from my body?
No. When it isn't blocked in your pores, sebum helps keep your skin healthy.
8. Why does acne usually start at puberty?
No one knows for certain. What is known is that the sebaceous glands that produce sebum get much larger at puberty than they were before.
9. Why does the skin around a pimple turn red?
This redness is caused by the body's inflammatory response. Inflammation is a sign that your immune system is working to fight an infection. However, the inflammatory response doesn't always work perfectly, and can even be the cause of scarring.
10. If my skin turns red, does that mean that I'm going to have scars?
Usually, no. Even when there will be no permanent scar, the aftereffects of the inflammatory response can leave the skin red for months, sometimes for more than a year.
11. What are free radicals?
Free radicals are byproducts of oxidation in your body. We all need oxidation to occur as part of our life process, but there is concern that the buildup of unrecycled free radicals contributes to many conditions, including skin damage. Antioxidants, including several of the active ingredients in Acuzine, help prevent the buildup of free radicals.

Acne Treatment For Different Skin Types

There are five basic types of skin and the treatment of acne differs according to the type of skin you have. Most people have a combination type of skin, combining the usual oily and normal with the oily and dry.

Dry skin is caused by underactive sebaceous glands. You need to drink plenty of water in order to stay hydrated if you have this type of skin.

Oily skin means the sebaceous glands are overactive so your skin appears shiny, with a greasy texture and large pores. It is more likely to develop acne if you have oily skin, but the good news is that this type of skin is less prone to wrinkles and remains supple and soft as you age. With proper measures you can balance the level of oil and sebum production, minimize the clogs on the pores and the accumulation of bacteria. The right acne product should address all these problems
.
Normal skin means your sebaceous glands produce a moderate amount of sebum, so there is a healthy balance between dry and oily.

Sensitive skin can be of several different types, including normal, oily, dry or a combination of all three types. Sensitive skin easily reacts to dirt and dust, so it is important to keep it clean. Use a mild, soap-free cleanser, with salicylic acid that will help with exfoliating the pores. You should also avoid applying makeup or only use products that are hypoallergenic.
You should also avoid acne products that contain large amounts of benzoyl peroxide, alpha and beta hydroxyl acid. These substances can increase the exfoliation of sensitive skin.

The Acne Bacteria Trap, Why Killing Acne Bacteria Often Makes Your Acne Worse

We've all read it or been told it somewhere...
"While no one know the cause of acne... Blah... Blah... Blah..."
Then what do they tell you to do about it (even though they have no clue as to what the actual cause of acne is)...
"If you take this acne bacteria fighting anti-biotic or use this anti-acne bacterial cream on your skin... Blah... Blah... Blah..."
Well, let me ask you... How has killing acne bacteria with creams or acne anti-biotics worked for you so far?
If you're like the majority of acne sufferers it hasn't done squat for you except dry your skin and put you in a constant cycle of trying this new cream or that new anti-bacterial acne remedy when the last one quits working.
So why didn't it work?
Here's the shocking secret your dermatologist never told you...
Acne bacteria does NOT cause acne. Nope, it has NOTHING to do with it.
Now don't get me wrong, acne bacteria will cause redness, swelling, and inflammation, but it's NOT the cause of your acne.
I mean, think about this...
If acne bacteria was causing acne then acne would be highly contagious just like other bacterial born diseases. You and I both know its not contagious.
In fact, take 2 random people.... one prone to acne, one with perfect skin and you "infect" the skin of both with acne bacteria the acne bacteria will do absolutely nothing to the person with already perfect skin.
The truth is everyones skin has acne bacteria on it right now... everyone's... whether they suffer from acne or not! But it will only cause redness and inflammation if you're already prone to acne.
Why? I'll get to that so stay with me.
So you've gotta be thinking...
The more you "kill" this acne bacteria that is naturally on everyones skin the more your acne returns...
Hmmm....
Lets think about this...
If anti-acne bacteria agents like anti-biotics and creams really worked then you wouldn't see acne. It would have been eradicated a long time ago with the invention of anti-biotics just like other bacterial born diseases.
The truth is no matter how hard you try, if you try to cure your acne by killing acne-bacteria you're never going to find the cure. In fact, many of those anti-bacterial treatments such as anti-biotics can even make your acne worse in the long-run.
Acne bacteria does NOT cause acne. It never did. Acne is caused by the combination of 2 factors and 2 factors only (please see the True Cause of Acne)
Until you resolve those 2 factors you're going to be constantly battling with acne. So don't waste your time on anything that doesn't resolve those 2 factors.

Teenage Acne Treatment - Learn The Best Teenage Acne Treatment Product For Fast Relief

More than 80 percent of teenagers are plagued by acne. This article will discuss the best teenage acne treatment product for faster relief for teenage acne sufferers.
One of the positive things about acne is that not only can it be prevented in teenagers but it can also be effectively treated. The teenage years are filled with enough angst without having to be worried and embarrassed by acne scars and the good news is that the teenage years don't have to be taken over with acne and its side effects.
Teenage acne comes to the surface together with the onset of puberty as this is when the body starts producing androgen hormones. Research has shown that boys are more prone to teenage acne and that teenage acne breakouts are prone to be more severe than at other times in a person's life.
Teenage acne comes about as a result of the hair follicles in the skin becoming blocked. What blocks the pores is a blend of additional unwanted oil together with dirt and dead skin. As a result of this the trapped matter in the hair follicles then become a perfect breeding ground for acne causing bacteria and soon after swelling and pus develops.
There are a few myths and misconceptions when it comes to teenage acne triggers. One humerus one is that masturbation triggers acne. Of course, this is not the case. Another common misconception is that greasy food and chocolate play a part in the onset of acne. General hygiene is also blamed for acne breakouts but there has been no foundation established for this finding, although good hygiene will assist in the fight against acne.
How Can Teenagers Prevent Acne?
I would recommend that you start with good hygiene which includes washing the skin twice daily at least. This is especially important after any exercise. Also, it is important to wash and cleanse the skin before going to sleep. There are many teenage acne products on the market but a mild soap may be all you need for this cleansing process. I would recommend against using a harsh acne product that contains a lot of alcohol as this will usually make your acne condition worse.
Additionally, you can use an gentle exfoliator or a toner. If you do use an exfoliator I would recommend that you avoid using one with any almond or apricot fragments as these can cause more acne damage.
It is also possible to prevent teenage acne from occurring in the first place by ensuring never to pick or squeeze acne spots as this can make the infection and inflammation worse and can unfortunately cause acne scarring.
The great news is that nowadays you can prevent teenage acne and teenage acne scarring with a number of teenage acne products. There are many teenage acne products which include home remedies, prescriptions, antibiotics and over the counter teenage acne treatments that can greatly help teenagers prevent and get rid of their acne condition.

Light therapy: A New Adjuvant Therapy for Severe Acne?

Light-based treatment for severe acne has been gaining impact and popularity in the general public in recent years.  According to the recently published  issue of  Expert Review for Clinical Pharmacology, lasers are now the most common form of light therapy for acne being used by many medical professionals.  In fact, a range of treatment using the light therapy are being investigated, the most common of which are blue light, blue-red light, narrow-band light and pulse-dyed laser. Early studies regarding these types of light therapy show that these are most effective when used together with medical therapy for acne.  However, they can also serve as the primary therapy for those patients who refuse medical treatment and those who have difficulty or adverse reactions with other treatment modalities.
How does light therapy work?
According to the aforementioned study by the Expert Review for Clinical Pharmacology, the mode of action of light therapy is its exertion of cytotoxic effect, or cell death, to the bacteria that commonly causes acne.  Other forms of light therapy also have the ability to decrease the size of sebum producing glands therefore decreasing the production of sebum, the oily substance that causes acne by clogging the skin pores.
However, according to this aforementioned source, the present number of clinical studies that show the safety and effectiveness of light therapy for acne treatment is still limited. Furthermore, the long-term effect of this treatment modality is still unknown.   Thus, it is still not recommended as a first-line treatment for acne outbreak.

What Causes Acne Scarring Anyway?

Acne scars result from skin damage caused by healed acne wounds. The types of acne scars are as varied as the types of acne lesions. This variety arises because of the multiplicity of ways an acne lesion can form.
For example, an acne eruption may originate deep within the fatty tissue of the skin as the in the case of cysts or nodules.
Then again, the acne mark may form just beneath the epidermis as a result of pore irritation as in the case of the comedone. A non-inflamed closed comedone is a pore blocked by excess oils, keratin and/or skin cells.
Because excess bacteria and free fatty acids irritate the pore, the proceeding localized inflammatory response causes the pore to expand.
However, once the inflammation is removed, the acne lesion can begin the healing process.
The origin of the acne lesion within the skin will impact if and how an acne scar forms.
Another factor that shapes the development of an acne scar is how the lesion was treated. If an acne patient prematurely "pops" or opens and acne lesion, this could result in acne scarring.
Types of acne scars
In November of 1999, the British Journal of Dermatology published a study on the effectiveness of laser resurfacing to treat acne scars. During the investigation, the designers defined two types of acne scars, atrophic ("ice-pick") scars and raised acne scars. Additionally, acne patients may experience a third type of acne scar-- flat, pigmented marks.
Atrophic ("Ice-pick") Acne Scars
Atrophic acne scars appear as round indented marks in the skin. Their size can range from 0.254mm to 2.540mm in diameter. The dept of an atrophic acne scar can vary between 0.254mm to 0.762mm.
According to review of acne scar pathology Greg J. Goodman published in the 2001 edition of the Australian Journal of Dermatology, the skin indentations associated with atrophic acne scars typically results from the contraction of the skin's surface layers.
The depth and width of an atrophic acne scar is influenced by the loss of collagen, and sometimes fat loss, that results from the healed acne lesion.
Raised Acne Scars
Raised acne scars or keloid scars are less common than "ice-pick" type acne scarring.
Pigment Acne Scars
A number of acne lesions can form, or move, to the surface of the skin. Such lesions include blackheads and pustules (pus-filled acne lesion on the surface of the skin). Due the unwanted presence of such blemishes on the face, acne patients are tempted to burst or squeeze such skin imperfections prematurely.
Since these acne lesions are closer to the upper layer of the skin than deep acne lesions like cysts, pustules and blackheads generally do no leave indented acne scars.
This is because their anti-inflammatory healing process involves less collagen repair and little if any fat loss.
Nevertheless, because acne lesions like pustules and blackheads are on the surface of the skin, their repair can involve the build-up of skin scales to repair the opened wound. The build-up of skin cells concentrates the brown skin pigment melanin, which creates the circular, darker toned scars where the acne lesion once resided.
Given that the skin is designed to repair itself, not all acne lesions are doomed to result in acne scarring.
Allowing your body time to remove pore inflammation and expel cellular waste emitted by acne lesions create an optimal environment for a scar-less healing of your acne marks.
So, the next time you have an acne lesion, before you do anything crazy like pop it or squeeze it, ask yourself, "If I do this now, am I going to give myself an acne scar?" Think about it.
